How do I prepare my fiber for processing at the mill?
All fiber received at the mill must be thoroughly SKIRTED to ensure no foreign bodies have snuck into the fleece, such as sticks, rocks, manure, etc. This must be done BEFORE the fiber arrives at the mill to avoid being charged the completely avoidable fee for mill skirting services. Package your skirted fiber for transport however makes the most sense to you; I recommend bags, boxes, or totes. See you soon at Sunny Hill!

20 lbs is the firm maximum for first-time orders with unestablished clients. Larger orders are available for future orders once a client has been established at Sunny Hill and upon agreement between the mill and that returning client.

How is the price determined for fiber processing services?
We process fiber “by the machine” and price our services accordingly. In other words, if you would like your fiber to be washed only, it will be a significantly lower price than processing that fiber all the way into yarn/felt because of the number of hours spent on the various machines required to produce more finished products. Click on ‘Fiber Processing “Menu”’ to learn more about the various options available at Sunny Hill Fiber Mill.
